Paris / Viktor & Rolf Monsieur /Summer 2013 Menswear

For their collection entitled "Spiritual Elegance", Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have been inspired by traditional Indian outfits in order to better deflect away from the classic mens wardrobe. Firstly in form, with the idea of Jodhpur pants, which are relaxed, soft and tight-fitting all at once. In the materials, the classic herring-bone pattern embroidered or woven jacquard covers some suits and coats. Also with light materials fully embroidered with mirrors or with metallic orange sneakers for a relaxed and refined touch, eccentric and glamorous all at once.

Rolf Snoeren : This collection we call `spiritual elegance', it's a mixture of a classic gentleman with a herring bone motif, that's the starting point mixed with a very Indian atmosphere.
Viktor Horsting : We take something that is classical and we twist it in a way that it becomes something new. The same as we would approach a womans collection, but with something that is very typically masculine. The mood of the show and the collection is quite delicate and quite soft. For this summer we were in the mood for something that is more soft, therefore suits are softer, there are even suits in jersey. The herring bone for instance is rendered in a hand embroidery, in a cotton yarn on nylon, that is a good example for the kind of tension that we are looking for; you have a very technical fabric but it's hand embroidered with a natural yarn, it's also applied on nylons, so it's a very summery, glamour feeling.
