Highlights of the fashion week in Seoul

After having showed in Paris last March, Lie Sang Bong, the Korean designer favored by the press and celebrities, kicked-off the Autumn/Winter 2012/2013 Fashion Week in Seoul with a graphic collection with 3D embroideries inspired by Don Dam, a traditional construction technique.
Following his example, from the 2nd to the 7th of April, young Korean designers were able to present their world of fashion and their numerous inspirations. Such as Sono DRS and her mastery of draped dresses in a single piece of antique fabric, but in a rebellious spirit. Or duo Andy & Debb and their contemporary vision of the Renaissance silhouette with cashmere coats and dresses in brocade with rounded hips.
Another big inspiration, the future. Steve J and Yoni P, both graduates of Central Saint Martins College in London, came up with a slightly girly collection based around a journey through space.
Just like Lee Suk Tae, graduate of the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture in Paris, and his futuristic collection made up of a combination of colors, materials and innovative techniques.
Regarding menswear, retro is also a source of inspiration, starting with Kang D. and his Charlie Chaplin silhouettes, but through layering and revisited proportions. Or the famous label General Idea, which reinterprets 60s down jackets and sportswear.
And last but not least, PushButton which brings its touch of fun and madness, slightly Manga, without being afraid of color.
A fashion week which proves that in the `Land of the Morning Calm', fashion has a sacred energy.
