Chanel Cruise 2013

It's in the sumptuous gardens of the Château de Versailles that Karl Lagerfeld showed the Chanel Cruise collection. With a lot of genius and humor, the couturier has brought back to fashion the jabot shirt, the skirt with panniers, and the dress with a train, but in a punk style! The modern day Marie-Antoinette, branded with a Chanel beauty-spot, in platform sneakers and wearing a wig, is adorned with lace, pastel colors and denim. A collection admired by an audience of stars who came to congratulate King Karl!

Karl Lagerfeld : This is the French version with the frivolity of the 18th century updated with new materials, new proportions, it's an inspiration that is far away from what it really was. It's a play on a cultural element in another world. I think modernity and classic beauty can be mixed and matched by Chanel.
Tilda Swinton : I think there is something really clever about taking this kind of fun aspect and putting it in this place.
Haider Ackermann : There was modernity, shapes, strength, fragility, all that mixed together which gave it a twist that modernizes everything, especially here.
Inès de la Fressange : I really liked the pastel colors, the lace, the dresses with panniers, the waistcoats, this 18th Century inspiration.
Vanessa Paradis : You think you're seeing Marie-Antoinette in a mini-skirt, it was so beautiful and fine, it was clever and filled with humor.
Maiewenn Le Besco : I loved the mix between Marie-Antoinette and the punk, trashy side, in any case all this is Chanel.
