Cannes Film Festival: the fashion winners after 11 days on the red carpet...

Under the watchful eye of Marilyn Monroe, the most glamorous of actresses, the 65th Cannes Film Festival has kept all its promises. Marchesa and its sublime dresses with trains, Emilio Pucci and its gowns with appliqué work or Atelier Versace and its couture embroidery were among the most noticed. And yes, Roberto Cavalli's sexy dresses were acclaimed, along with a few lesser known designers who came into their own. The Frenchy Stéphane Rolland made headlines thanks to Paz Vega and Cheryl Cole, as did the little darling of French stars Basil Soda, or even Reem Acra and her crimson red dress worn by Kristen Stewart. Set in white gold at Damiani, accompanied by emeralds at De Grisogono or assembled into a gorgeous set of jewellery in homage to Marilyn at Chopard, diamonds were a girls' best friend.
A nod to the golden age of cinema, the trend was the neo-retro style. Wavy hair worn to the side in the style of Veronica Lake, or sequined gowns from Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana and Ralph Lauren, who along with Marion Cotillard's Dior Couture vintage dress, were on a par with chignon hairstyles.
A glamorous 2012 season.see you next year.
